John Chovanes is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and holds a BA degree in Chemistry. His career encompasses past experience in all aspects of petroleum. He has over 25 years of laboratory testing, petroleum refining, and petroleum distribution experience. As a project chemist and manager for the Penn Glenn Oil Corp., the American Refining Group , the USS, Fuels & Lubricants Laboratories, the PARC Analytical Testing Laboratories and the Intertek Parc Services Laboratories, he is well versed in petroleum particulars, especially petroleum testing.
John was also the manager responsible in part for the ASTM (American Society of Testing and Materials)ILCP (Inter Laboratory Crosscheck Program) development & implementation of the sample standards and secondary reference products blending operations. He is an active member of ASTM, the AISE(Association of Iron & Steel Engineers), the SAE(Society of Automotive Engineers) and STLE(Society of Tribologist & Lubrication Engineers). John is a certified STLE CLS and he has also served as both a Chairman and Vice Chairman of several committees within the ASTM D02.01 section. Additionally John is well versed in QA/QC (Quality Assurance & Quality Control) needs such as ISO 9000, 9001, 9002 & 17025, having set up and achieved certification in these areas for previous employers.
